Chad Copeland is one of the starting cadets in the first Police Academy film.
Background[]
Copeland is portrayed as more of a bigot who tends to antagonize people akin to Captain Harris' attitude. He was selected with Blankes by Captain Harris as cadet leaders to sabotage the all-enlisting program at Lassard's academy.
Though Copeland tends to look down on others, he can be easily surprised when he was immediately intimidated by Hightower upon meeting him the first time. He is much of a racist when he uses terms to attack Hooks which offended Hightower enough to flip a squad car over with him inside. However, like Harris and Mauser, Copeland has also shown contempt for Mahoney, evident when he takes an off-beat approach to handle situations.
In Police Academy 3: Back In Training, Copeland along with Blankes were recruited by Ernie Mauser to help him sabotage Lassard's academy. Like his friend, Copeland agreed out of revenge for having graduated at the bottom of his class. However, Hooks caught on to their scheme and knocked the two out.
Trivia[]
- He makes a guest appearance in the animated series as Proctor's assistant in Proctor, Call a Doctor!, and a cameo on "Grads on Tour".
- Surprisingly, Copeland is still in the force despite his sabotage antics being discovered by Sgt. Hooks in the third film.
- Barbara had taken Copeland by surprise by knocking him out with a metal lunch tray. He looked quite bewildered by this assertiveness before passing out on the ground.
